From the moment you were born, your dad has been your superhero, role model, teacher, and best friend all rolled into one. He works hard to give you everything and anything you need, so it’s only natural to want to give back to him and make him feel special on his day. With all the things you want to thank dad for and all of your options, it can get overwhelming trying to find the best way to celebrate Father’s Day. Here are 5 ideas for making Father’s Day 2021 extra memorable for you and tatay.
1. Cook him a special meal.
Spending money on an expensive present is nice and all, but there’s nothing better than spending quality time with your dad on this day. Cooking a nice lunch or dinner for your dad — and the rest of the family — is probably the simplest and easiest way to celebrate the occasion while still letting him know how much he means to you. If you have any recipes that you and your dad are fond of, make sure to include them in your Father’s Day menu.
2. Get the karaoke going.
If there’s one thing most dads have in common, it’s the love for karaoke. Bust out the mic and songbook and have a little karaoke competition for the day as everybody waits for the food you’re preparing. Make sure to include your dad’s favorite tunes. You’re welcome to take a break and join the singing, of course!
3. Take him on a road trip.
Due to the pandemic, chances are our parents haven’t been anywhere fun or exciting in the past year. Take this opportunity to take your dad on a road trip and enjoy the great outdoors while following safety precautions. Make a list of outdoor destinations where you can hang out for a few hours without a crowd, drive by his favorite fast food drive-thru for meals, and spend the day just reminiscing and talking about anything under the sun.
4. Hold a movie marathon.
Gather your dad’s favorite films: films with his favorite actor or director, (Al Pacino? Martin Scorsese?) or in his favorite type and genre, (mafia/gangster films? SciFi movies?) and hold a movie marathon while enjoying some beer and pizza all day. He will not only appreciate the effort you put into recalling his movie preferences but the time you spend together as well.
5. Have a picnic in your backyard.
Grab a blanket, pack up some sandwiches and refreshing drinks, and head out to your backyard or the nearby park for a simple picnic with your family. This may not sound like much, but the experience of sitting out in the sun with his favorite people around him will surely warm your dad’s heart like no other.
