Worry not! Here’s a friendly first-timer’s guide to help you experience the MassKara Festival to the fullest.
What is MassKara?
At its heart, MassKara is a celebration of resilience, creativity, and community.
The festival began in response during a difficult period in the region. The people of Bacolod came together to create a celebration that would give people a reason to smile. Over the years, the MassKara Festival grew into one of the Philippines' most recognizable festivals, combining elaborate masks and costumes with street dancing, music, and community celebrations.
The 47th MassKara Festival this 2026 has the theme “Share the Smile, Celebrate Gugma.” “Gugma,” meaning love, puts an emphasis on the people and communities that make Bacolod feel like home.
